I agree the shotgun should have less ammo, but apart from that it is simply such a satisfying weapon I cannot possibly justify nerfing it.
Same as the AR2 it has very low ammo because it is meant to be conserved for tough long shots or occasions where you need extra firepower. Plaffing four soldiers in the head in a row is immensely satisfying but requires a ton of aim. The revolver can one shot kill most enemies. You're supposed to use it when you need extra firepower. You've been fostered by CoD and Overwatch and all other newer games to be used to having unlimited backup ammunition. It is not supposed to have a lot of ammo. The first 3-4 shots have incredible accurary.Īdditionally it deals a ton of damage and easily melts through ranks of enemies if you can aim well. I'm just nitpicking and interested if you guys have had similar experiences. HL2 is probably me second favorite single player game after Super Mario Galaxy. I was always running out of ammo when using it which lead to me not using it at all to save ammo for the moment I need it (which never came). And that's before I got the shotgun which outshone the SMG after that by just simply being better. I only used it in Ravenholm when I lost my saw blade. It dealt so little damage that (at least) I prefered the pistol over it in most situations.
And even then you ran out of bullets very quickly. It was really only useful when faced up against many targets when you had no cover. Pistol is more accurate than assault rifle? Yes. Many times I switched to pistol to take out long range targets. Ammo packs gave you almost all of the ammo back (something like 24) and Combine troopers also dropped a lot of ammo.Ĭombine rifle.
